Service Photo and Reflection
I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering at my old high school with the video production class. They produce a show called ‘Cane Rock, which is shown to the entire school once or twice a month. I was able to provide the students with some general knowledge to improve their show. I gave the students suggestions and advice about shooting footage indoor and outdoor as well as tips and tricks to use in editing. While volunteering, I went with them to shoot footage with other students, helped with storyboards, advised editing, and participated in brainstorming session for show ideas. I even provided them with music to use with their show. Early in the semester, I discussed the possibility of using Adobe Photoshop to manipulate and edit still graphics with the teacher. She thought it was a great idea so she ordered the program. During my last time volunteering with the class, I conducted a hands-on workshop on Adobe Photoshop. It was a great way to end my service. I felt like I really connected with the students. Hopefully, I inspired them to be better videographers. I provided them with my contact information so hopefully some of them will keep in touch with me.
